Multi-media campaign for Eastern Cape Office of the Premier

Yithethe maAfrika was appointed in October 2010 by the Eastern Cape Provincial Government´s Office of the Premier (OTP) to develop and implement a multi-media campaign to Brand Eastern Cape.

In relation to the above, Yithethe:

  • assisted OTP with media and communication matters, and,
  • assisted in facilitating a closer working relationship between the Eastern Cape Provincial Government and Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality prior to and during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.

The multimedia approach included utilizing:

  • newspapers - targeted within the province and nationally.
  • radio messaging from appropriate beneficiaries of service delivery and public servants in order to profile provincial successes.
  • television to broadcast material during strategic slots, profiling provincial successes and new government projects.
  • outdoor signage and billboards profiling the province and World Cup.
  • outdoor audiovisual material through websites, potcasts etc

Specialist media consultant to Nelson Mandela Municipality FIFA World Cup™ 2010 Directorate

Yithethe maAfrika was appointed as a specialist media consultant to the Nelson Mandela Municipality 2010 Directorate prior to and during the FIFA World Cup™.

Yithethe assisted the Directorate with:

  • strategic planning
  • promoting NMB locally, provincially, nationally and internationally.
  • writing press releases, submitting weekly columns to the Herald newspaper, arranging radio and TV broadcasts, organising bus and outdoor signage etc.
  • manning the Host City media desk at the NMB Stadium.
  • establishing a Host City Media Centre at the FIFA Fan Fest™.
  • project leading and devising a media strategy for the December 2009 Final Draw.
  • assisting the NMB 2010 transport workstream´s communications.
  • arranging media briefings with print and broadcast media.
  • keeping the public informed on NMB´s activities.
  • compiling a database of local, provincial and national media.
  • establishing a media corps.

Yithethe edited, designed and organised the printing of:

Road from Now

Yithethe published a compilation of poetry about the diversity of life in South Africa, conceptualised and written by Mayihlome Tshwete, son of former government minister and struggle hero Steve Vukile Tshwete.

Yithethe also managed the sponsorship and distribution of 3 000 issues to every high school in the Eastern Cape, where the youth need literature to which they can relate.

KWAM eMakana township homestay experience

Yithethe set up and managed this government-initiated poverty alleviation project in 2005 and 2006. It ensures that unemployed township residents benefit from the many events held in Grahamstown, including the National Arts Festival. The project offers an authentic township experience that includes branded minibus taxis, homes and taverns.


Witness information pack

Yithethe published a trilingual, user-friendly information pack for victims of violent crime, in a durable Z-Card format, in association with the provincial department of social development.


Cacadu News

Yithethe put together a business concept, designed a template and produced the first copy of the Cacadu District Municipality newspaper.

Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture DVD

Yithethe compiled the content and managed the production of the DVD.

UDDI

Yithethe drafted the UDDI (Uitenhage and Despatch Development Initiative) communication strategy and plan.
